Culinary Tour
one week in LIMA and the sacred valley
Lima is one of the greatest food cities in the world, and results from some of the densest and richest farmland available to man. On our first trip there, we were surprised and delighted to learn how many foods are native to Peru. Local farmers grow over 3,000 distinct kinds of potatoes alone, and many chefs choose to work with a different set every season.
It’s not only potatoes, either. Ecologists have determined that there are 30 distinct natural environments in all of the world. Peru has 22 of them. It has some of the highest mountains on the map, and the dryest deserts. It has gargantuan glaciers and tropical beaches. It also has the Amazon. Needless to say, we aim to share with you the spectacular bounty of produce that Peru provides. A dish may arrive in front of you, and you may only know one ingredient. “Oh sure,” you say, “I’ve heard of chicken.” Then you try it, and an entire adventure begins on your palate and quickly reaches your face before you look across the table and meet your favorite smile.
Imagine what food would taste like if everything was organic, where farm-to-table was built on a farm the size of three Californias, and foragers use the Amazon jungle as their playground. What results is a diverse and delicious set of restaurants that will satiate even the most committed glutton (re: that’s me).
Plant Medicine
two weeks in the andes
For a discounted rate, the culinary tour can be combined with the Plant Medicine retreat. The only difference between those experiences is that, if moving on to work with plant medicine, you will shift towards vegetarian offerings toward the end of your culinary tour.
Building on the nourishment Pachamama provides, we will guide and coach you through the experience of working with Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and other sacred medicines of the Amazon.
